We have put together a local golfing guide to help you plan your golfing break. At Yr Hen Fecws we're lucky enough to say we have a great selection of golf courses nearby. Take a look below to see what courses are available to play during your break away in Porthmadog
Porthmadog Golf Club
The course and clubhouse has everything required for a great day out whether with family and friends or on a society golf day. The course is situated in Morfa Bychan, 3 miles away from the harbour town of Porthmadog and was established in 1905 by James Braid, the genius course designer of his day.
It is a traditional links course, friendly, challenging and not to be missed.
Royal St. Davids Golf Club, Harlech
Website:
Established in 1894, the Harlech links has long been ranked within the ‘Top Fifty’ of British golf courses, ranked 2nd in the Top 50 Courses in Wales by Golf World and also in top 100 by Golf Digest world’s Top 100 courses. The setting is matchless, and the golfing challenge of equivalent grandeur: over the years nearly eighty championships of national or international stature have been played at Harlech.
Clwb Golff Pwllheli
Website:
A warm welcome awaits you at one of North Wales’s finest golf courses. Clwb Golff Pwllheli, with its unique part links, part parkland course, is located on the south facing coastline of Cardigan Bay. With fantastic views stretching along miles of coastline to the mountains of Snowdonia, it’s an ideal location for visiting golfers.
Caernarfon Golf Club
On the shores of the world-famous Menai Straits, nestled below the beautifully rugged Eryri National Park and overlooked by Mount Snowdon sits the Championship course – Caernarfon Golf Club.
The stunning views offered at Caernarfon Golf Club are simply breath taking all year round. The club is renowned for its warm Welsh welcome and is consistently striving to develop its facilities.
Nefyn Golf Club
Website: https://nefyn-golf-club.co.uk/
Perfectly situated on the spectacular northern coastline of the LlÅ·n Peninsula, our 27 hole layout consists of an 18 hole Championship Course, which not only offers golfers a rich variety of breathtaking views and scenery, but also a constantly changing set of challenges which require, if at all possible, the golfers full attention.
In addition, you can also choose to play our world famous ‘Point’ which offers 9 holes of breathtaking golf along the thin stretch of land that encroaches out into the Irish Sea. The ‘Point’ can only be played as an extra 9 holes when paired with the 18 hole Championship Course as part of a 27 hole package.
Abersoch Golf Club
Website: https://www.abersochgolf.co.uk/
The golf club at Abersoch is one to put on your North Wales golfing list. Offering a challenging mix of 18 holes on traditional links and parkland, the course is a must for golfers of all abilities.
Take for example the signature 246 yard par 3, 3rd hole with elevated tee and panoramic views requiring an accurate drive downhill over both gorse and a water hazard to a sloping green with a bunker waiting at the back. Follow that with links holes hugging the coastline and contoured over a century ago through huge, natural sand dunes, accuracy is key here as wayward drives can be punished.
